The Next-Gen of Solar Energy Storage Is Finally Here

The Tesla Powerwall 2 has been the most popular home battery on the market for years now and with the Tesla Powerwall 3 finally released in the UK we are excited to share what the future of home energy brings.

We like to work with the best manufacturers and those at the very forefront of clean energy and that’s why we’re so proud to be able to offer you the Tesla Powerwall, as an accredited Tesla Premium Powerwall installer.

Having consistently held the top position as the leading lithium-ion battery in the market, the original Tesla Powerwall and the Powerwall 2, brought about a revolutionary change in energy storage for solar systems. Now, what sets the Tesla Powerwall 3 apart?

The Difference Between POWERWALL 3 and POWERWALL 2

Typically, inverters are separate units, but the biggest difference for the Powerwall 3 is that it has a fully integrated solar and battery system. Unlike most solar inverters, which allow only two or three string inputs, the Powerwall 3 supports up to six. This flexibility is ideal for homes with complex roof designs spanning multiple orientations to maximise generation.

The Tesla Powerwall 3 enhances energy independence from the grid with a higher power output of 11.04kW. The higher power output of 11.04kW, allows for powering high-load items such as electric vehicle chargers, electric showers, and heat pumps, from stored energy in a single Powerwall 3

Solar and battery power outputs may be constrained by National Grid limitations, which vary across different grid connections. The unique flexibility of Powerwall 3 allows you to adjust the power output, ensuring you can maximise your grid connection’s allocated power.

Is the Powerwall 3 Suitable For Me?

Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 2 cannot currently be installed together. If you already have an existing Powerwall system and need to increase capacity, you will need to purchase an additional Powerwall 2 battery.

Tesla Powerwall 3 offers notable enhancements in continuous power output, load start capacity, integrated inverter, EV charger support, and a maximum solar DC input of 20 kW. If your household requires more than a 5 kW continuous load, plans to expand your solar PV system significantly, want to install an integrated EV charger, or your inverter needs replacing, upgrading to the Powerwall 3 could be a preferable option.

However, if your current Powerwall 2 meets your backup needs and you don’t need the higher power output or increased solar capacity, the upgrade might not be worth the cost since both models provide the same 13.5kWh energy capacity and a 10-year warranty.

Depending on your requirements the Powerwall 2 might be the best option over the Powerwall 3, if you are unsure on this speak to one of our solar experts today.
