New County Hall, Solar Carport

System Size solar_power 230 kWp   Annual CO2 Savings eco 50 Tonnes

SunGift Solar, a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, is excited to announce the official commissioning of Cornwall’s largest solar carport at New County Hall in Truro, the headquarters of Cornwall Council.

This milestone project is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to expand renewable energy capacity across its facilities. With plans to increase its renewable energy output from 8 megawatts to 18 megawatts by 2030, Cornwall is positioning itself as one of the UK’s top local authorities for renewable energy adoption.

The cutting-edge solar carport, featuring 543 high-efficiency solar PV panels, has a capacity of 230kW and is expected to generate 200,000 kWh of clean energy annually. Impressively, 90% of the generated energy will be used on-site, reducing the Council’s reliance on the National Grid. Any surplus energy will be returned to the grid, further contributing to Cornwall’s renewable energy supply.

This project demonstrates the immense potential of transforming car parks into green hubs for clean, renewable energy. The solar carport at New County Hall will help Cornwall Council cut energy costs, reduce carbon emissions, and provide a sustainable energy source for years to come. I’d also like to commend our team of installers, who worked hard to complete the project on time, their dedication was key to delivering this significant project.
